My professional research career has focused primarily on alcohol and drug impaired driving , but has also extended to risk perception and decision making, alcohol misuse prevention, the costs of prescription opioid misuse, negative experience among young adult in club scenes, racial profiling, and other traffic safety issues (e.g., distracted driving). My research has involved an eclectic portfolio of methodologies, from laboratory behavioral experiments, controlled alcohol and drug dosing, instrumented vehicle studies, community-level interventions and evaluations, secondary data analysis studies, and numerous field experiments. I have served as the Principal Investigator on over one dozen Federal grants and contracts (National Institutes of Health and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) and I have served as the senior statistician on over 30 projects.
